Thrips were identified by several sectors as an area of concern for crop protection. Four field trials were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of eight new insecticides for the control of thrips in onions.

The three chemical candidates evaluated performed better or equal to the industry standard, cyantraniliprole. Biological options were less efficacious, but showed reduced thrips numbers compared to untreated onions.
