Two projects are focused on insect pest control in lemons and oranges. One involves evaluating five insecticides and biopesticides for Kelly Citrus thrip control in lemons. The other is assessing five insecticides and biopesticides for Australian Citrus whitefly control in oranges.

Year one involved a field trial has been undertaken for each project. Weather conditions in Gisborne meant that results were inconclusive and the trials were repeated in the 2023/24 season. However, variable results were recorded due to inconsistent pest pressure.
