As 2025 and the sixth year of the A Lighter Touch programme draws to a close, it’s a good time to reflect on progress towards our goal of supporting a grower shift to more sustainable crop protection.

Nine out of ten growers are already integrating agroecological crop protection approaches into their pest, disease and weed management practices, according to monitoring and evaluation reporting undertaken this year.

And it’s not just practice change occurring on farms, orchards and vineyards – more than half of growers surveyed say their views about agroecological crop protection have become more positive over the past five years.

In the short video below, our Programme Director Livia Esterhazy reflects on A Lighter Touch’s role in supporting these changes, and what’s still to come in 2026, as the seventh and final year of the programme draws closer.
