This month we have details of the coming season’s activity at the Pukekohe Research and Demonstration Farm, applying IPM approaches in barley, lettuce, sweet corn and onion crops. The farm is also the venue for a series of educational workshops for growers and advisors focusing on implementation of IPM in vegetable production.

First year findings are discussed from a project trialling the use of ultraviolet light in vineyards to reduce fungicide dependency, and the biopesticide regulatory case study project shares the roadmap the project is taking to seek registration of a new-to-New Zealand biopesticide.

Following on from our extension newsletter earlier this month, we release a guide to extending new concepts and knowledge to meet the specific needs of different audiences, and extension planning is moving to action for Summerfruit NZ, with upcoming field walks for growers and advisors to learn about the benefits of understory planting.
