This case study resource shares the integrated pest management approach (IPM) taken in successfully harvesting a sweet corn crop using trap crops as a control strategy for green vegetable bug (GVB).

This resource, designed to support grower adoption, outlines the integration of the trap crop in the A Lighter Touch-Vegetables New Zealand project. The trap crop has the potential to offer a reliable, non-chemical option for managing GVB while supporting wider IPM and biodiversity goals.

The case study is the latest in a series produced from projects at the Pukekohe Research and Demonstration Farm, which give growers a detailed overview of the IPM approaches taken to achieve successful harvest with a lighter touch crop protection programme.
