As part of the ALT enhancing agroecosystems project (Gisborne citrus project) and the programme’s extension goals, we were pleased to offer the following webinar series to all of our participants. We enlisted the help of Dr Charles Merfield (“Merf”), head of the BHU Future Farming Centre at Lincoln University, to put together and deliver the presentations to introduce the audience to the concepts of agroecology, with examples of crop protection and the different forms of biological control with a focus on conservation biocontrol. The final webinar covered the application of these concepts to our Gisborne citrus project.

The programme over 3 webinars covered:

  1. Introduction and explainer of agroecology;
  2. Introduction and explainer of biocontrol;
  3. How we have applied this agroecosystem enhancement and biocontrol theory in the Gisborne citrus project.
